It was as if time stopped… In a city always bustling with families, tourists, government officials, and students, the roads were lifeless and the birds’ morning songs were all that could be heard. The sun had barely crept above the hill as the coffee pot bubbled. Full cups were a must at 6am Saturday morning. The rich gold rays of light poured through the kitchen windows while the girls laughed and shared the piping hot breakfast that filled the air of this towering Capitol Hill home. Sarah, beaming and poised as ever, took deep breathes and long pauses to soak in the magnitude of what had been so long anticipated.
Blocks away, Buck who had spent months creating spreadsheets and helping with plans, couldn’t have been more relaxed and ready to see his bride. While laying out his bow-tie and outfit, there was such an overwhelming sense of confidence in his calm spirit. For Sarah, he is a strong and loving leader that she can just melt into, trusting his decisions and supporting their dreams and desires for a life together.
Sarah is a grateful woman. Have you ever been around someone who is thankful for every breath and the never-ending list of mundane gifts we take for granted? It’s inspiring and contagious that this precious woman loves so deeply by simply being thankful. This couple… these people… this marriage… truly, the tangible love that Sarah and Buck share for Jesus and one another is altogether admirable. They had spent their lives becoming humble, loving, compassionate and giving souls instead of waiting for someone else to be that for them. There was such an excitement in the truest sense of celebration as the two vowed before God and so many loved ones to live life as one.
What made this day even more incredible was that within hours, Sarah and Buck would share their first kiss. I don’t know that I’ve ever witnessed so much pure joy and excitement. The second they were in each others’ presence, everything around them disappeared. What a privilege to see it unfold!!
Sarah and Buck, our hearts will be forever connected to yours. We are soooo blessed to know you, to have watched God bring you together, and to call you friends. Your day was absolute perfection and it was so obvious in the energy and excitement that you have and will continue to bless this world in so many ways! WE LOVE YOU!!!
